Saba Indoor Sky-Diving
Saba indoor sky-diving, a vertical wind tunnel type, can be used as skydiving simulator. In this wind tunnel, air is drawn in the upward direction at a speed of about 230 km/h, allowing skydivers to float on an air cushion, which induces the feeling of real skydiving in a safe environment.
The National Project
Saba indoor sky-diving project, a national mega project in the country, was supported financially by Iranian Science and Technology vice Presidency. The tunnel was designed by Dr. Mohammad Ali Ardekani, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, at Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST), and constructed by FaraSanjesh Saba Company. The project was inaugurated by Dr. Sheikh Zeinulldin, Commercialization Deputy, Iranian Science and Technology vice Presidency, on 1/7/2015.
The First and the Only
Saba indoor sky-diving is the first and the only vertical wind tunnel in the country, financially supported by Iranian Science and Technology vice Presidency, which has been successfully commissioned in the holy city of Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi Province.
Khwarizmi International Award
Saba indoor sky-diving national mega project was judged winner at the 29th Khwarizmi International Award, country’s most prestigious science and technology award. It may be mentioned that during the ceremony, which is customary attended by national and internationally renowned and highly respected personalities, the award is presented to the winners by his Excellency, president of Iran.
Indigenous Technology Development
Indigenization of this national mega project, including the design and fabrication of the required parts and equipment, has been carried out using the logistic and financial support provided by Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST).
Entertainment and Sport
Any interested person above 3 years of age, irrespective of his or her gender, can experience the excitement of freefall during the skydiving, enabling the diver to feel the immense pleasure in this new and exhilarating sport. It may be noted that the required training to assure a safe entertainment is provided to all the persons prior to the actual use of the facility.
